November 19, 2017 10:22 am Mauston, WI. The weather has been unseasonably warm for late November, and today is no different.
No need to adjust your screen, you read that right- frozen curds. Recently, I spent a few days in Door County visiting my sister who was attending a conference. As a condition of my visit, I told her that we would need to go cheesing.
A special guest blogger joins me this week to discuss if you can get quality, fresh cheese curds from a grocery store. So, it is possible?
When I am out, roaming the Wisconsin countryside for the best cheese curd, I live by one rule: purchase curds only from the factory store. It’s a fairly simple and straight forward approach. While I know that many places across the state sell cheese and curds, I kind of take issue with those who just throw curds on the counter for the profits. I'm looking at you cheese castles and houses.
Did you know that in Wisconsin, we produce more than 3 billion pounds of cheese annually? That’s straight up CRAZY! But I really can’t knock it; as I’m not sure how I would live without a cheese factory being within driving distance from my house.
